The Journey

Day 1

All Day Arrivals

Welcome to Quito! Our staff will pick you up at the airport and transport you to a comfortable hotel in the capital city.

Day 2

City Tour around the UNESCO World Heritage City of Quito

Get to know the first city to be declared a Unesco Human Heritage site. Visit its marvelous cathedrals, historic streets, and hidden architectural beauties. The tour will be followed by a car cruise through the spectacular Ecuadorian mountains to Hacienda el Porvenir.

Day 3

Hacienda el Porvenir -- Horseback ride around the area to acclimatize

You will get acquainted with your horse in a way you have never done before. After learning to saddle and ready your horse, an adyllic horseback ride will get you across mystic highlands and plateaus at the base of an extinguished volcano. After, you will listen to a presentation about the program and prepare for a transformational conversation.

Day 4

Transfer and Mountain Bike ride to El Tambo

Enjoy an adventurous bike ride in the lower skirts of the Cotopaxi Volcano to El Tambo and its pristine surroundings.

Day 5

Solo experience

Plunge into a life-changing solitary experience in the highlands of the Andes range, where you will experience a quest to find yourself in the mountains. We will ask you to write about your life at the end of the experience and form an action plan to envision your life based on what you lived and learned on this day.

Day 6

Biking back to civilization

In the morning, you will debrief your solo experience and eat a tasty breakfast. Then, we will leave El Tambo house and begin the return to civilization. The first 20 km (12.42 miles) have a slight uphill inclination and short climbing portions. Once you reach El Encañonado, the road flows downhill and the bike can roll without much physical effort. You will eat a boxed lunch. Soon, you will reach the higher road of El Canal, which is a flat road following a water canal. The views are superb. You pass by Limpiopungo Lake and bike back to Hacienda El Porvenir to get some well deserved drinks.read more

Day 7

Air transfer to Lago Agrio and then to the Cuyabeno National Reserve

Rise early for a long day of transportation, by car, plane and car again until you get to one of the biggest virgin jungles of the world. When we arrive, you will do a wrap up about the experience to see if you can find things that can be improved in your life.

Day 8

Jungle hike and swimming in the Laguna Grande (Big Lake)

Take a real jungle hike surrounded by magnificent fauna and colorful creatures to one of the most marvelous views in the Ecuadorian jungle. With some luck, you might spot a pink amazon dolphin or maybe even a manatee. Once the curtain of night falls after dinner, you will silently head out onto the lake again; this time in search of caimans. You can spot them with flashlights, reflecting in their eyes like bright orange lights. Occasionally, with a bit of luck you may also catch the green eyes of a wandering ocelot cat or jaguar in your beam.read more

Day 9

Get to know an indigenous community's way of living. At night you will be taken on a walk through the woods with a flashlight. During such walks, you may see some cool creatures. Tree frogs are everywhere, but it is a bit difficult to spot them. You might hear a glimpse of their harmonious tunes.

Day 10

Day in the Shamman Maloca

Learn about the wisdom of the jungle through the words and rituals of an authentic jungle shaman.

Day 11

Program closure and transfer to Quito

Your program ends today and you will be transferred to Quito.
