This expedition is hosted by Anniina Sandberg, who has an MA in African studies. She has lived among the Maasai and she is fluent in Swahili and Maa- languages. She takes travelers to stay with the people she has lived within the bush and give cultural insights about Maasai and Hadzabe cultures. All other guides and staff are native Maasai and Hadzabe.
Welcome! Today you will arrive at the Kilimanjaro airport. Tonight you will stay at the Crest Safari Lodge in Arusha and eat dinner in a local African restaurant.
Today you will be driven from Arusha to Mto Wa Mbu. You will eat lunch on the road. You will be staying at a camp set up in the Maasai boma. The Maasai warriors and women will welcome you will dinner and other celebrations. You will sleep in a tent in Maasai boma.
After breakfast, you will head to Mto wa Mbu village where you will take a painting workshop with an African artist. You will return to the Maasai boma for lunch. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to fetch firewood and water with the Maasai women. You will eat dinner at and sleep overnight in the Maasai boma.
After breakfast, you will head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will have the privilege to meet Maasai spiritual leader and medicine man, laiboni. You will learn about Maasai wisdom and the use of bush medication. You will have a chance to meet laiboni in private too if you wish. Later, you can take a bush walk inside the Ngorongoro. You will head back to Maasai boma in Mto wa Mbu for dinner and to sleep overnight.read more
Today you will head to Lake Eyasi to meet the famous Hadza hunters. You will be greeted by a welcoming celebration in a Hadzabe village. The Hadzabe grow no food, raise no livestock, and live without rules or calendars. They are some of the last remaining hunter-gatherers on the planet. Join the Hadzabe on a trip to the bush and take part in their hunter-gatherering lifestyle. Camp will be set up in the bush near the Hadzabe's huts. Tonight, eat dinner and tell stories around a campfire in the wild bush.read more
You will spend 2 full days with the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers. Join the Hadzabe on their hunting trips early in the morning and late in the evening. Learn their hunting techniques. If you're lucky, see how they gather wild honey. You will also join the Hadzabe women to gather tuber plants and fruits. Listen as the Hadzabe sing and tell stories each night around a slow burning Acasia fire. You will sleep in the wild bush with the Hadzabe.read more

After breakfast, you will head back to Arusha. You will transfer back to Kilimanjaro airport for your flight or book an extra night in the lodge (for an extra cost).
